Maxwell Parker, P.I.: A Smart YA Detective Story

Twelve-year-old Maxwell Parker’s obsession with the macabre and overly active imagination lead her to suspect her seemingly innocent new neighbor of a horrible crime. To investigate, she enlists the aid of her best friend, Kenneth Newman, who has just been pegged as the “hottie” of the new junior high, and Maxwell is suddenly faced with the loss of her one friend. When a popular girl offers friendship at a price, Maxwell must decide if she’s willing to pay the cost of fitting in.
Her perennially preoccupied mom lends a watchful eye as Maxwell struggles to march to the beat of her own drum despite the noise from the cookie-cutter world threatening to drown it out.

Maxwell’s story is continued in Maxwell Parker, Love Doctor, the second chapter in The Maxwell Parker Chronicles.
