Walter, a pigeon living on the mean streets of Los Angeles, admires humans despite their glaring failings and frets over the treatment he and his fellow pigeons receive in return. They are demonized, shooed away, and called “rats with wings.” Walter longs to convert his species from social pariah to the darlings of the bird world. If only they could do that thing the starlings do that humans love so much. So begins Project Pigeonholed. As Walter attempts to teach his neighborhood crew the art of murmuration, he learns a much more valuable lesson.
